  4. WELCOME TO CD-ROM INSTALLATION UNDER WINDOWS 95
  5.  
  6. This file contains information not available during the printing of
  7. the manual.  Please read it's contents before you proceed with any
  8. installation procedure.

  10. This file contains the following sections :

  13.     2.    Hard Disk and IDE CD-ROM Drive

  16. 1.    Windows 95 Installation
  17.  
  18.     NOTE :
  19.     If you have connected your CD-ROM drive to a device (e.g., an audio
  20.     card) that uses the secondary port, Windows 95 will automatically
  21.             configure the CD-ROM drive for you.  If your CD-ROM drive is working
  22.     properly, you do not need to run this installation program.

  25. (a)    Checking Your CONFIG.SYS File
  26.  
  27.     To set up your CD-ROM drive in Windows 95, run SETUP.EXE. 
  28.  
  29.     SETUP.EXE will check your CONFIG.SYS file for the CD-ROM driver 
  30.     installed in your Windows 3.1/DOS system.  It will then prompt you 
  31.     with a dialog box, indicating the driver you must choose in order 
  32.     to complete your installation in Windows 95.

  35. (b)    Optimum usage of memory
  36.  
  37.     After you have completed the installation, for Windows 95 you can 
  38.     remark the CD-ROM driver (e.g., SBIDE.SYS - the CD-ROM driver for your
  39.     Windows 3.1/DOS system) in your CONFIG.SYS file. This is to allow for 
  40.     more memory for the Windows applications.

  42.     For example:

  44.     If you have connected an IDE CD-ROM drive to your Windows 3.1/DOS 
  45.     system, the following statement is found in your CONFIG.SYS file.

  47.         DEVICE=C:\path\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:1E8,11 /V
  48.  
  49.     To remark this statement, add 'rem' before the statement.

  51.         rem DEVICE=C:\path\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 /P:1E8,11 /V

  57.     Do not connect your IDE CD-ROM drive and hard disk to the same 
  58.     IDE port.
